Things to Do On Your First Day Bartending

by | Oct 20, 2021 | Business

Choosing a career in bartending can be a very fun and exciting experience but just like any other jobs there are definite responsibilities that you have to attend to. Once you receive the training that you need from a Bartending School in the San Diego area, you will be ready to look for your first real bartending job. There are a lot of similarities and a lot of differences when it comes to taking the skills you have learned on a job site. Here are a few things that you need to do on your first day on your first bartending job.

Open the Cabinets and Coolers

The first thing that you need to do when you first get to your new bartending job is to open all of the cabinets and coolers to see what you have. You need to start familiarizing yourself with the stock of the bar as soon as you can to make sure that you know what tools you have at your disposal. The more you know about the ingredients behind the bar, the better equipped you will be to serve your customers.

Know the Money Policies

Once you have familiarized yourself with the bar selections, you need to move on to the money policies of the establishment you are working at. You need to know whether or not the establishment you are working at will allow the customers to run a tab or not. You also need to check the policies on the use of credit cards and making change in the register. The time that you spend becoming familiar with these policies will be more than worth it in the end. Be sure to ask more experienced team members for advice if there are things that you do not know.

Learn the Glassware

Another very important thing that you need to do is to learn what glasses are used for what type of drinks. This is very important for a bartender to know and is one of the first things you need to make sure you are in the know about. In most cases, a business will have a printout when it comes to the glassware that they used so be sure to study up.

By following these steps you will be able to familiarize yourself with your new place of business in no time. The more you know about the policies of where you work, the more success you will have.
