Here’s How to Support Your Favorite Local Small Business

Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. This became even more apparent in 2020 and 2021, as the global pandemic made doing business harder for local artisans, contractors, and other professionals. Consumers largely stepped up to help offset those issues – and are still doing so today.

Here are some ways for you to support your local small businesses!

Opt for Local Shops

Looking for a gift for your friend or family member? Instead of heading to a big-box store or giant website, choose a local vendor instead.

While prices at an art studio in Lancaster, PA might be slightly higher than they would be at a large discount retailer, you will get much higher quality items – and a one-of-a-kind gift for your loved one!

Remember to Tip!

When you buy products or services from local vendors, be sure to tip generously. The last few years have been tough for everyone, but if you can spare a few more dollars, your server or vendor will surely appreciate it!

Get Social

If you don’t have a lot of extra money to spare, you can still support your favorite small business. Share positive experiences or opinions on social media and tag the vendor, helping to promote their services for free! They can then share this in turn, and develop a deeper connection with you!

Think Outside the (Takeout) Box

While ordering takeout, catering, or other products from your favorite vendor is a great way to support their business, there are other ways as well. Think about purchasing their merchandise, either in-store or online.

This helps your favorite business in two ways.

First, it helps to keep them in business despite decreased foot traffic due to the pandemic. Secondly, when you wear or share that branded merchandise, you help to promote their business further, giving them a boost every time you use it. It’s a win for both of you with just one small investment!
