Common Features Found in an Industrial Embedded Computer

by | Apr 28, 2016 | Computer

Computers have become an essential part of many people’s lives. They are used in businesses, factories and at home. Not all computers are the same. For instance, the computer you use at home is not usable in factories. The harsh working conditions in a factory mean that an ordinary computer won’t last. Most modern computers are very delicate. They are encased in carbon fiber or plastic frames and aren’t resistant to impact. An industrial embedded computer, however, is completely different. Here are just some of the common features that you will find in an industrial embedded computer:

Designed for Use in Harsh Conditions

One of the features that you will notice about industrial computers is that they are designed for use in harsh conditions. These computers are generally encased in stainless steel shells that are resistant to impact. The stainless steel shell offers protection from any sort of physical damage.

Touch Screen

Most industrial computers are powered by touch screen displays. In fact, many displays are now glove-friendly, so you can even touch the screen if you have gloves on. Since many factory workers have to wear gloves in order to protect themselves, these computers make it easy for the workers to upload instructions without having to take their gloves off.

High Definition Displays

Even though the whole computer is encased in a rigid shell, you should know that most industrial computers are equipped with high definition displays. This makes it easy for people to view what’s on the screen, make changes and input commands. You may find several different ports in an industrial embedded computer too. Many computers are designed for use with specific machines, which is why they are mostly outfitted with several different ports.
