What Aspiring Drivers Should Know About the Online 5 Hour Course in NY

by | Aug 25, 2022 | Business

Aspiring drivers in New York State are required to take a five-hour pre-licensing course before they can take the road test to obtain their driver’s license. The course must be taken at a school that is licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

While there are many brick-and-mortar schools that offer the five-hour course, there is also the option of taking the course online. Online courses are generally more convenient and can be completed at the learner’s own pace. However, there are a few things that aspiring drivers should keep in mind when considering an online course. Here are three things to know about taking the online 5 hour course in NY.

1. The Course Must Be Completed Within 30 Days

Once you enroll in an online course, you will have 30 days to complete it. If you do not finish the course within that time frame, you will need to start over from the beginning.

2. You Must Pass a Final Exam With a Score of 80% or Higher

At the end of the course, you will be required to take a final exam. In order to pass the exam and receive your certificate of completion, you must score 80% or higher. If you don’t pass the final exam on your first try, you can take the course again.

3. The Certificate of Completion Is Valid for 18 Months

The certificate of completion that you receive after passing the final exam is valid for 18 months. This means that you have 18 months to take and pass the road test in order to obtain your driver’s license.

Taking the online 5-hour course is a great way to fulfill the pre-licensing requirement and get one step closer to obtaining your driver’s license. For enrollment information, contact the Grand Prix Driving School team today.
